Last year we were able to raise over $3,600 and was able to deliver 100 Christmas stockings to various Fisher Houses across America in Maryland, California, Texas, and Virginia. For more information and pictures check out our page through the link below. :-)
What is a Fisher House and why should we support it?
A Fisher House provides lodging for families of injured Military and Veterans, free of charge, while the family member is undergoing treatment at the VA hospital. There are currently 92 Fisher Houses, including two in overseas Europe.
By providing lodging for families of injured military and veterans, the Fisher House Foundation offers a way to say thank you to those who fought for our freedom in military service to the United States of America. It is a worthy cause that has served over 455,000 families, saving them from over $575 million in lodging expenses.
What is Operation Christmas Fisher House?
Operation Christmas Fisher House provides thoughtfully put together Christmas stockings to the families staying at the Fisher House. It gives us a way to bring much needed excitement and Christmas joy to those who are suffering due to injuries from military service, and those that are away from their families during the Holidays because of this.
In the last 5 years that this project has been active, over $9,500 has been raised and the contents for 323 Christmas stockings have been put together and delivered to the Greater Los Angeles Fisher House, the Bethesda MD Fisher House, the Washington DC Fisher House, the Ft Belvoir Fisher House, and the Ft Bliss Fisher House (El Paso, TX).
All of the stockings are filled with high-quality items and are put together thoughtfully by volunteers.
